Ken Hitzig founded Accord in 1978. His ability to do what’s best for the company – confronting adversity and making tough decisions – has helped to build Accord into one of North America’s most respected financial service companies. Mr. Hitzig served as president until 2009 and remains chairman of the Board. A director since 1992, he holds a B.Comm. from McGill University.

Tom’s career in the finance industry began with Heller Financial in Chicago, formerly one of the largest finance companies in the world, where he eventually supervised all of their overseas operations in Asia and Australia. On joining Accord in 1998, his outstanding productivity and people skills led to his elevation as president of our U.S. finance business in 2001, and his appointment as president and CEO of Accord Financial Corp. in 2009.

Mr. Robert Sandler has been a business and financial consultant since 2002. From 1978 to 2001, Mr. Sandler served as Executive Vice-President of HSBC Business Credit (USA). Mr. Sandler is a past chairman of the Commercial Finance Association, the industry trade group for North America. Mr. Sandler holds a B.S. from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and attended the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. Mr. Sandler has been a director of Accord since October 26, 2010.

Stephen D. Warden

Stephen Warden is a CPA, CA and CMC with a B.Comm. from the University of Toronto. Now a partner with MNP LLP in its Public Company Group, he previously was a partner with KPMG LLP in Toronto. Steve provides audit and advisory services to financial services, factoring and finance companies, and was an audit partner and auditor of Accord from 1980 to 2006. He is a Director of the Private Capital Markets Association of Canada and was appointed to the Board in July, 2010.

John J. Swidler

Mr. Swidler is a Senior Advisor with the Montréal office of Richter LLP, a firm of Chartered Professional Accountants. He was the Managing Partner of Richter from 1996 to January 1, 2007 and was Chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee from 1982 to 1996. Mr. Swidler graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and also received a Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill. He obtained his designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant in 1967 and received his Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant designation from the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec in 1992. 

David Beutel

Mr. Beutel holds an B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Schulich School of Business at York University. Mr. Beutel is a Vice President and Secretary of Oakwest, a private investment management and holding company. Prior to this, Mr. Beutel was the co-founder and managing partner of Belweather Capital Partners Inc., a merchant banking and private investment company in Toronto. He is the non-executive Chairman of Diamond Estates Wines and Spirits, Inc. (DWS-V) and a director of Arius3D Corp. (LZR-V), as well as being a director of several private companies.

Mr. Prager is nationally recognized as a leader in the Commercial Finance industry in the U.S. Spanning almost two decades with CIT, Gary was responsible for the creation of vertical platforms, having assets under management in excess of $2B. Most recently, during his tenure as a senior member with GB Credit Partners, he played a key role in the sourcing of fund investments which resulted in the doubling of the fund’s size since formation in 2006. He has authored several articles for financial publications and has been a featured panelist for the Commercial Finance Association and Turnaround Management Association. He is past President and Chairman of the Board for the Atlanta Commercial Finance Association. Gary lives in Atlanta, GA and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University as well as an MBA from The University of North Carolina.
